Post Server sprawl
Have you ever been at a place that had more servers than employees? I have. Looking to consolidate? I am currently in the process of doing just that and the thing that keeps killing me is that every Windows app out there seems to want to take complete and utter control of IIS and not let anything else share. Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager is a stellar example of this. It hijacks the entire process and there's not anything that I can find to solve the problem. The server utilization is only at about 3%. What are you doing to control server sprawl when there are apps like this in the mix?

How are you consilidating? Are you using a virtualization platform? I have found others having issues with Symantec Endpoint Protection also. This forum happens to be on a VMware site.

Isn't Endpoint Protection just another way for the boss to see when you are on Myspace.com?

I think that the anti-virus makers are the ones that write all the viruses anyway. Hang on, someone just threw a rock through my window... JOE'S GLASS REPAIR!! :o
