We are looking to fill two new positions immediately, each one to be filled by a top-notch systems engineer, network engineer, or someone who has a technology specialization and has a strong desire to learn and become certified in new skills. Areas of expertise that you must have include one or more of the following: Networks, Virtualization, Backup, Storage, Microsoft solutions (non-ERP), Linux, Citrix, etc. Work will be performed in one of our datacenters in North Dallas.
You will have responsibilities for daily ticket and support requests, and troubleshooting servers, networks, storage, and backup systems. You will also ensure that all customer requests are expedited, properly managed and timely addressed. You will strive to prevent or solve the recurrence of incidents by getting to the root cause and ensuring that all aspects of the client’s ongoing system administration are successful.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Working with a team that oversees the entire customer management process via trouble ticketing, ensuring that customer response times are at a predefined minimum and that support staff properly respond using correct literature and well thought–out solutions.
- Being the central knowledge point for assigned customer production environments.
- Minimizing the adverse impact of incidents.
- Problem control - identifying root cause and advising management on "work-arounds".
- Error control - ensuring known errors are resolved through change.
- Ensuring availability for escalations for assigned customers 24x7 on a rotating, on-call basis.
- Identifying and correcting recurring technical issues within assigned customer(s) environments.
- Completing all Windows, Network, Virtualization, and Linux system administration tasks requested by hosted and managed services customers.
- Open trouble tickets to fix down servers and networks, diagnose faults and perform repairs.
Qualities Required
- Bachelors in IT or MIS (industry experience will be considered in place of formal education)
- 3 - 5+ years experience with network, server platforms, storage, mail systems, and backup configuration, support, and administration roles
- Ability to configure, troubleshoot, and support Linux, CentOs, Exchange, IIS, Windows 2003/2008, SQL, Active Directory, network devices (including products from Adtran, Cisco, and Juniper, load balancers, firewall and VPN devices), network concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP), storage, servers, desktops, and backup solutions (NAS or SAN)
- Experience in supporting systems in a 24x7x365 production environment
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects, time management, coordinate with other staff and departments, and prioritize accordingly
- Strong work ethic
